Executive Director

Following an extensive executive search, the PHPA named Brian Ramsay its new Executive Director on August 8, 2024.

Ramsay, 44, joined the PHPA after nine years as Executive Director of the Canadian Football League Players’ Association (CFLPA), where he led significant growth in member engagement, advocacy, and organizational development.

Since arriving at the PHPA, Ramsay has orchestrated a strategic alliance with the NHLPA, launched The Professional Hockey Players Guild, negotiated landmark collective bargaining agreements with on behalf of the union’s AHL and ECHL members, and facilitated the union’s affiliation with the largest federation of labor unions in the United States, AFL-CIO. In June of 2026, he was named chair of the AFL-CIO Sports Council
